Tools to Save Time and Work Better

“The mechanic that would perfect his work must first sharpen his tools.” ~ Confucious

As internal communicators, we find ourselves overwhelmed by deadlines, surprise projects, and shifting priorities every day. Here are some tools that might save you a little bit of time and help you work better.

♦ Percentage Calculator: Whether you’re math challenged or not, this useful little tool will save you time and ensure accuracy.

♦ Headline Generator: I use this one to brainstorm headline ideas. Often time, it’s right on the money. And yes, I used it to write the headline for this blog.

♦ 53 Free Image Sources: This is the most complete list for free photos that I’ve found.

♦ QR Code Generator: I like using QR code on printed materials to make a tie with online resources. This tool is quick and easy to use.

♦ Canva: I use PowerPoint to make most of my graphics but I use Canva to get exact pixel dimensions.

♦ PowerPoint: Many folks don’t realize how much you can do with good old PowerPoint. For instance, the image used for this blog post was taken by me at a museum recently. I imported it into PowerPoint, color corrected it, cropped it and saved it as an image file. All of the slider images on our home page were created in PowerPoint. Did you know that you can blur photos, remove backgrounds, match exact colors and make images transparent in PowerPoint? It’s a great alternative for those of us who don’t want to learn the complexities of PhotoShop.

What tools do you use to make your job easier? Please share your favorites with us.
